      How about simple yes/no checkbox on the order form for the user to click that says would you like to receive email updates. If yes it dumps to a file of approved emails that we can export to use.

        that simply will not do or anyone could just subscribe anyone else at any time
        one needs – at a minimum – double opt ins with the option to also allow the user to opt out again at any time and in a simple manner

        that said, this is what the integration below is for, as all those mailinglists already cater for optins/outs and various other options,
        not to mention they are of course also there to actually administer and send newsletters
